Chapter 5
Against Humanity

Sophia:

The world is in trouble.
I know this because last night, I had a vision. What was so unsettling about it was the fact that Vorelix is the villain. On her command, metal birds swoop across a city like a swarm of locusts, leaving destruction in their wake. The flesh tore right off of any human standing in its way, departing with nothing but a pile bones behind.
I woke up in an empty white room. Although I don’t remember how I got in here, I am sure that Vorelix tricked me, and I don’t know why I trusted her in the first place. The ungrateful rogue left me with a book and a dog’s squeaky bunny toy. I feel so mad. Who does she think I am to leave me with a pet’s chewing plush? I’m not a dog; I’m a guardian!
Luckily, I have kept a good amount of charm items inside my dress’s pockets. I reach my hands into them. Oh no, they are empty!
“GET ME OUT!” I yell. No response.
I pound the door. “GET ME OUT!” Still no response.
I must stop my vision from becoming true. I must stop Vorelix. I need to get out. I feel magical energy boiling from within. I close my eyes and focus the energy. A blue spark dwells in the deepest part of my being, condensing as I chant a teleportation spell. Teleportation spells take over an hour to charge. I hope there is still time. So I sit there, waiting patiently as the spark matures itself.
